Nothing is as pure as the laughter of a little child, absorbed in the moment of joy and fun. Its infectious, contagious, purifying. I spent this past summer home with family. My youngest sibling, though only 18 months old, wields the power to send the whole house into uproarious laughter simply by his own laughter. I wish I could laugh like he does.
But instead of the free, innocent laugh of a child, somewhere I learned what was appropriate and inappropriate. In movies, I’ve hidden the unexpected chuckles and chastised my mind for allowing myself to find humor in something “inappropriate.” Discipline will teach me not to laugh. Scolding for smiles.
But this just seems contrary to the nature of God. I cannot provide solid scriptural evidence for this argument, however I must believe that God has a sense of humor. Humor’s function provides release from difficult situation. Our society places such emphasis on perfection and an incessant work schedule. Quality comedy breaks in to balance the psyche.

Finally, apologies for the lack of humor on this page. I find it a little ironic that my appreciation for humor may hinder my ability to produce quality laughter, at least here on this page. Alas, if I were truly gifted, I would have you rolling on the floor, unable to complete this paragraph. As it stands, you’ve now completed my thoughts on humor.
